Ji aYi, one of these un attended ch ildren, cherished every singl e reunion with her parents who work as migrant labors: she would travel thousa nds of miles with her grandf ather to visit th em; lying on her father’s le g and cryin g silently is her way of resisting saying go odbye; Tears flooded her eyes so violently that she didn't says any w ords when her mother had t o leave earl ier than p lanned to start w orking during the spring festival. However, life goes o n no matter they are ready or not . She strug gles to survive in the s uffering o f separation whi le at the me an time, she must learn to f orge t this painfulnes s an d preten d to live like a norm al kid w ho enjoys her time in school with peers. She, like a mature adult, can make her yo unge r bro ther cry and th en burst int o laughs. Their life is f illed with tears and laughte r as they g row up happily and toughly. “Sadness” is not supposed to be the first ima ge of these unattended childr en.
