《獨眼巨人博士》是由知名导演Ernest B. Schoedsack 执导的一部科幻片，阿爾伯特·德科 Thomas Coley Jani 等倾情出演，该片讲述了： ";Dr. Cyclo ps&quo t; i s known as one of the better "ear ly sci-fi&qu ot; fi lms, made in 9;39 and rele ased in 1940 . (It i s also in color.) But while the stor y has potential and there ar e some good moments, th is is a very confused film. Th e plot is simpl e - crazy mad scien tist on some remote island c an shrink an imals, and wants t o try it on humans. He mana ges this on a scientific team that came to check things out. They get angry, and the crazy scientist eventuall y gets really angry because his new shrunken subjects won't cooperat e. The thing i s, the fil m doesn& #39;t seem to know if it want s to be a thriller, or a goofy movie. Dr. Cyclops (never called that but referenced to a Cyclo ps after one lens in his glasses breaks) looks cool in his "30' ;s st yle sci -fi helmet&q uot; as he performs exper iment s and can be chi lling at tim es. But there is so much "Disney-style goofy mus ic&quo t; going on that it is h ard to take anything seriously. The music belongs in a famil y comedy for the most part, and is played when the shrunken people do things like try to survive , and creep around the floor. Add that a few of them ha ve pr etty gruesome deaths and that just adds to the c onfusing atmosphere. The FX aren't so bad but nothing sp ecia l. The gian t sets bui lt are pret ty impressive t hough. There is a scene where little fires ar e tossed at a real cr ocod ile's head which probably made anima l activists angry. It also ta kes a long time for anything to really happen. T his movie could have been done in a nice tight h alf-ho ur. Good for a view ing, but y ou probably won't wat ch again.
