《等待方舟》是由知名导演皮奧特爾·舒爾金 执导的一部科幻片,耶日·斯圖爾 克裏斯提娜·楊達 卡裏娜·謝魯斯克 等倾情出演,该片讲述了: Set in an undergro und dungeon inhabited by bundled, rag ged human beings, after the nuclear holocaust. The story follo ws the w anderings of a hero through the situations of surviv al. People wait f or the Ark t o arrive and resc ue them whi le their habitat falls a part. Delvi ng deep into the dusty a nd long a bandonded vaults of b -cinema in search o f lost gems alway s lea ves me with a bittersweet taste. On one hand the discovery of unexp ected gems w here no one would think them po ssible is a rewarding experience. On the other ha nd though it makes one wonder how many of these re markable low-b udget oddities, persona l love affairs of dire ctors never quite famous and now a ll but forg otten, have almost fore ver slipp ed from memory? n any case what we have here is a little post-apocalyptic gem fro m Poland t hat is reall y better t han it has any right to. The dystopian near future of O-BI, O-BA find s a group of survivors of the nuc lear war that ravaged th e Earth inhab iting an underworld concrete b unker and biding their time as t hey wait for the myst eriou s Ark, an air sh ip of some kind that will come an d save them. The Ark proves to be an ela borate hoax, careful ly d esigned to give hope to the maln ourished a nd des perate denizen s of the bunker, while in the me antime th e dome tha t separa tes their m iserab le ex isten ce from the nuclear wi nter ou tside is s lowly caving in. What first s triked m e about the movie is the de sign of the bunker and the depiction of the survivors. The survivors are gaunt, filthy and terrible-l ooking penitents, dressed in rags and aimlessly wandering the neon-lit halls of the bun ker li ke a utomatons. The bunker is a rundown, seedy place , wit h brigh t ne on lights peering from all sides like t he eyes of malignant beasts. On one hand it is a slightly 80 39;s depiction of the dystopian fut ure but the movie never stoops down to MAD MAX cheese. I nstead i t com bines biting political satire with the bleak out look of a world with no fu ture, black comedy with barbs on apath y, reli gion and power. The survivors, for example, are fed so me kind of flour dro pping from a tube that hovers i n the air - later on we discov er the food supervi sor uses books and the Bible itsel f as filler for this mea gre meal. There are many such short sym bolic touches, perhaps not life -cha nging or fai th-restor ing, yet playful, c leve r and in spired. One thing is for sure ; O-BI, O-BA is not your ru n-of-th e-mil l sci-fi sc hloc k. It overcomes it s modes t budget with creativity an d has genuine arti stic aspirat ions both from a writing and directing perspective . My opinion is that it should have been filmed in black and white instead of co lour though. The director uses atmospheric ligh t and shadow to g reat effect a nd it would hav e registered even better in stark black and wh ite. The bl ue-green neon on the other hand outstays its w elco me af ter a while . Just a minor gripe in an o therwise sol id b-m ovie wi th its heart set in all the right places. Imagin e a less bl eak THE ROAD ( Cormac M cCarthy) being injected with the satire and humour of DR.STRANGELOV E and you9;re getting there. S ee it if you can find it.
