《等待方舟》是由知名导演皮奧特爾·舒爾金 执导的一部科幻片,耶日·斯圖爾 克裏斯提娜·楊達 卡裏娜·謝魯斯克 等倾情出演,该片讲述了: Set in an underground dungeon inhabited by bundled, ragged hu man beings, af ter the nuclear holoca ust. The story fo llows the wandering s of a hero through the situat ions of s urvival. P eople wait for the Ark to arr ive a nd rescue t hem whi le their habitat fa lls apart. De lving d eep into the dusty and long abandonded vaults of b-cinema in search o f lost gems always leav es me with a bitt ersweet taste. On one hand the di scovery of unexpected gems where no one would think th em possible is a rewar ding exper ience. On the o ther hand th ough it makes one wonder how many of these remarkable low-budget oddit ies, perso nal lo ve aff airs of directors never quite famous and n ow al l but forgotten , have almost f orever slipped from memory? n any case what we have her e is a little post-a pocalypti c gem fr om Poland that is really bet ter than it has any ri ght to. The dystopian near fut ure of O-BI, O-BA finds a grou p of survivors of the nuclear w ar that ra vaged the Earth inhabiti ng an underworld concre te bunker a nd biding t heir time as they wait for the mysteri ous Ark, an air ship of some kind t hat will come and save t hem. The Ark proves to be an el aborate hoax, carefully designe d to give hope to the malnour ished and desperate denizens of the bunker, while in the mea ntim e the dome that separates their miserable existence from th e nuclea r winter outside is slowly caving in. What first strik ed me about the movie is the design o f the bunker and the de piction of the survivors. The survivors are gaunt, filthy and terrible-looking penitents, dressed in rags and aimlessly wandering the neon-lit halls of the bunker like automato ns. T he bunker is a rundown, seedy p lace, with bright neon l ights pee ring from all s ides li ke the eyes of malignant beasts. On one hand it i s a sl ightl y 80's d epiction of the dystopian future but the movie never stoo ps down to MAD MAX cheese. Ins tead it combines biting political satire wi th t he bleak ou tlook of a w orld with no future, black comedy with barbs on apathy, reli gion and power. The survivors , fo r exampl e, a re fed some kind of f lour dropping from a tube tha t hovers in the air - later on we disco ver the food supe rvisor uses books and the B ible itsel f as filler for this meagre me al. There are many such short sy mbolic touches, pe rhaps not life-changing or f aith-restoring, yet playfu l, clever and inspired. O ne thin g is for sure; O- BI, O-BA is not your run-of -the-mi ll sci-fi sc hlock. It overcom es its modest budget w ith creativity and has genuine artistic aspiratio ns both from a writi ng a nd dir ecting perspectiv e. My opinion is th at it s hould h ave been film ed in black and wh ite instea d of colo ur thou gh. The directo r uses atmos pheri c light and s hadow to great effect and it would have registered even better in st ark black and white. The blu e-green neon on the other ha nd outstays its welcome after a while . Just a mino r gripe in an otherwi se sol id b-movie wi th its heart set i n al l the right places. Imagine a less bleak THE ROAD (Cormac McCarth y) being inj ected wi th the satire and humour of DR.STRANGELO VE and you';re getting there . See it if you can find it .
